






I’m really proud to have been asked by Paul Irvine-Smith to create the brand for his new venture: Witterings Vets.
I first became aware of Paul through our family pet, Buzby the miniature schnauzer. Paul worked at the veterinary practice we visited, and I’d also supported that practice with design and print over the years. Even then, Paul stood out – his genuine passion, commitment, and values were clear in the way he cared for our dog and other people’s pets.
When Paul decided to open his own practice, we sat down to talk through his vision. He brought along a rough sketch for the logo – a great starting point. I nodded, took it all on board (professionally, of course!) and then got to work… not just on his sketch but also on a few ideas of my own.
After sharing the initial PDF visuals – including both his concept and mine – after a few emails about what worked and what didn't Paul replied with a line that meant a lot:
“I value your opinion and expertise, and your comment that without a brief from me this is the way you would have gone speaks volumes really.”
From there, the brand took shape beautifully. We developed several logo variations, a full brand guide, a holding page for the website, external and internal signage for the building and roadside, and a suite of print materials including business cards and appointment cards.
The new look for Witterings Vets is already receiving fantastic feedback – and I’ve no doubt the practice will flourish under Paul’s expert and compassionate leadership.
