Business Fitness

I recently spent two intense, but genuinely energising, days listening to Nigel Botterill talk from the stage at one of the Entrepreneurs Circle events. Nigel set the scene perfectly by stepping into the role of “Chief Physician of Entrepreneurship” and putting our businesses through a proper health check. Not the surface-level fixes we’re all guilty of reaching for, but a deeper look at the vital signs – the indicators that quietly reveal how healthy (or unhealthy) a business really is.

Over two fast-paced days, we worked through a 12-point Business Health Check, looking closely at what’s working, what’s under strain, and what needs attention. No fluff. No jargon. Just clarity.

By the end, everyone left with their own Business Health Report – a kind of X-ray of what’s really going on – and, crucially, a practical plan to strengthen the areas that matter most. It reinforced something I’ve believed for some time: success rarely comes from dramatic change - but from small things done well and persistently.

A quick note on 'purpose' – Matt D'Butler absolutely knows his, and lives it with energy, humour and genuine care for those around him. That sense of purpose runs right through the wider Entrepreneurs Circle team, and it shows!

I came away with a clearer head, sharper focus, and renewed determination to improve the fitness of my business – not by chasing quick wins, but by doing the right things, consistently, over time.

After all – design + persistence = three!
